School Governors
As a Board of Governors we would like to ensure the children and parents, old and new, know who the governors are and what they do. Governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards. School governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to children’s education but, unlike the PTA, we don’t get involved in fundraising for the school.
The governors contribute to the work of the governing body in ensuring high standards of achievement for all children and young people in the school by:
- Setting the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction, in liaison with school staff
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent (Ref: National Governors Association)
