Pastoral & Wellbeing
St Werburgh's and St Columba's School understand that each child is an individual and is treated as such. We know the importance of a safe, secure and welcoming school environment and in addition to spiritual wellbeing we also support our pupils' social and emotional wellbeing. Our in-house programme, Fred, which means peace in Swedish, is part of our PSHE and pastoral curriculum. We are very lucky that all of our pupils have access to our Zen Den, an oasis in our busy school life.
Our Learning Mentors run programmes that help children to overcome issues that may hinder academic and social progress. These issues may range from low self image or esteem to friendship issues.
Our school firmly believes that the family is central to a happy and healthy experience at school. We know that sometimes life can throw challenges that mean our families may need help to either seek the right advice or simply have someone to talk to.

What Public Health England says......
'Research evidence shows that education and health are closely linked. So promoting the health and wellbeing of pupils and students within schools and colleges has the potential to improve their educational outcomes and their health and wellbeing outcomes.'
This year one of our main focuses will be well being. This will compliment our Personal, Social, Health and Emotional curriculum.
Each class will be taking part in well being and mindfulness exercises over the coming year.
We have some parent massage spaces available on a Thursday with our Body Worker, Maria. If you would like a free 20 minute session then please contact Mrs Prendergast.
