Spring Half Term 2
Please find listed below a series of links to units of work that your child can complete whilst they are away from school either awaiting a COVID test or in isolation. This work is not “extra” homework for pupils attending school as normal.
This work will be updated every half term.
There is more work in these units than would be needed over a 10 day quarantine period. Work through the lessons aiming for maths, English and Bug Club reading every day and one afternoon activity a day.
Phonics and spelling
Continue to work through the Year 2 common exception word spellings.
Use www.phonicsplay.co.uk for free phonics games to practise quick recall of sounds, segmenting and blending. Select phases 5 and 6 (and also phases 3 and 4 if your child reads pink, red or yellow books).
English
Recount: New Report - This is a standalone unit that is not being taught directly in school. However, it focuses on some of the key Year 2 writing objectives we will be looking at this half term.

Measures: Capacity and volume - Oak National Academy (thenational.academy)
Times Tables
Practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Use the BBC Super Movers videos for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables

Science
Human Lifestyle - this unit of work covers the main objectives that we will be teaching in Science this term. There are 6 lessons in this unit. In school we do one science lesson per week so work through these lessons doing one a week. Don’t worry that you won’t complete all of the lessons.
